High Mountain Hikes

Taiwan has the highest density of 3,000m+ mountains in the world! Let Imagine introduce you to the legendary Baiyue

Multi day Hikes

Our multi day guided hikes are available throughout the year as private bespoke trips.

Take a look at our selection of hikes which serve as a fantastic introduction to Taiwan’s top 100 mountains (Baiyue), or check our calendar to see any upcoming public group trips.

Jade Mountain 玉山

Jade Mountain (Yushan)

Yushan stands a mighty 3952m or 12,966ft above sea level and is situated deep in the heart of Yushan National Park. Northeast Asia’s highest peak and a national treasure, Yushan attracts many Taiwanese and foreigners aspiring to reach this breathtaking summit once in their lifetime.

This mountain can be ascended in a variety of ways depending on fitness levels, trip duration, weather conditions and what high mountain aspirations you may have. Once one reaches the summit of Taiwan there are up to eight more peaks to be attempted should you desire more time in this high altitude wonderland.

Snow Mountain 雪山

Snow Mountain (Xueshan)

Xueshan is Taiwan’s second highest mountain at 3886m and lives inside Shei-Pa National Park, one of the islands more remote parks.

From December till early April it’s possible to experience snow up around the summit. With truly outstanding views often stretching down the entire Central Mountain Range, sunrise up here can’t really be beaten!

Boasting multiple high altitude cabins spread out over a series of trails leading from the main peak, this national park has endless trekking opportunities.

Dabajian Mountain 大霸尖山

Advanced Hikes

For the more experienced hiker there’s the possibility of joining expeditions to many of Taiwans ‘top 100 mountains’. Some of these hikes involve:

  • Mountain cabin stays
  • Camping only trips
  • Wild hot springs
  • Rare endemic animal sightings
  • Summiting multiple 3000+ meter mountains

We would usually offer these trips to our previous hiking customers. However, we can create bespoke expeditions for experienced and able groups. Enquire now.

Hikes with Imagine

Your Guides
Maximum ratio of 1:6 guide to customer. Guides are Wilderness Advanced First Aid certified and spend a large amount of their time out in Taiwan’s wilderness. These guys have a lot of love and respect for the mountains and will help identify some endemic wildlife species as we walk i.e. Formosan Sambar Deer, Reeves’s Muntjac, Taiwan Serow and the Formosan Rock Macaque just to name but a few.

Our trips are designed to introduce and promote aboriginal (yuanzhumin) culture. We usually begin and/or end in an aboriginal mountain village environment, this can involve a night sleeping in a homestay or depending on our schedule, simply stopping for a nice meal and a chat!

Digital Detox!
We promote taking a digital detox when out in the mountains. Being fully engaged with your surroundings and those you are sharing the experience with is top priority for our trips. Our guides often take nice photographs that will be shared after the hike.
